The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired center Jusuf Nurkić and a first-round draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft in a trade with the Denver Nuggets. Mason Plumlee and a second-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft goes to the Mile High City.
The 7-foot center was in his third-season with the Nuggets. He is averaging 8.0 points per game in 45 contests. He is also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.8 blocks.
The 22-year-old will now back-up Ed Davis. Festus Ezeli – who signed with the team in the off-season after the Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Durant – is out indefinitely due to a knee injury.
The 26-year-old Plumlee will now be on his third team. He was averaging 11.1 points per game in 54 contests. He is also averaging 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks.
He began his career with the Brooklyn Nets, where he played two seasons. Then was traded to the Trail Blazers in the summer of 2015.
His brother Miles was also recently traded, as he went from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Charlotte Hornets. In exchange for Plumlee, the Bucks received Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes.
