Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz played Houdini on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins. On one particular play, as you can see below, it looked like Wentz was going to be sacked.
Instead of being sacked, he came out of the pile without having a knee touch the field. Once he was clear, he then ran the ball for a first down.
This was an incredible play, because for most quarterbacks, they would go down and take a sack. Instead this second-year rising star quarterback looked to get out of the grips of those trying to sack him and look downfield.
Wentz is showing the Eagles fans, who loved his play and his performance in the win against the Redskins, that he’s going to be a franchise player. The Eagles haven’t had a franchise signal-caller since Donovan McNabb left the team.
The Eagles, who are on a five-game win streak, saw Wentz go 17 of 25 for 268 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. He also led the team in carries, as he rushed the ball eight times for 63 yards.
