The Detroit Lions are going to have a problem for the rest of the game in London against the Atlanta Falcons. In the second quarter, with the Falcons leading 14-0, Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley went down with a knee injury.

At the moment, it is not clear how badly the injury is. However, Fairley did leave on a cart to the locker room.

The game reporter said that Fairley will not return to the game. He started every game this season, and depending on the severity, he could miss extended time.

To make matters worse, head coach Jim Caldwell sent defensive tackle C.J. Mosley home yesterday for a violation of team rules. In addition to being sent home, he was suspended for two weeks from team activities.

With Fairley injured and Mosley home, Ndamukong Suh is the only defensive tackle active in the game.

The Virginia Tech Hokies could be without sophomore corner back Brandon Facyson for the rest of this season. He appeared in three of the team’s first four games.

But he has been hampered by a lingering knee injury that he hurt during spring practice. With Facyson not a 100%, he’s still inside the window to receive a medical red-shirt should he be shut down.

He is not allowed to play in 30% of the season, or three games, whichever is greater in order to receive the red-shirt, according to the NCAA.

“Well, we’re trying to get him well, but if it doesn’t come along, we’re getting to a stage where we’ve got to determine do you play him or not play him and try to get a medical red-shirt year,” head coach Frank Beamer said. “You know, he’s not the same self.”

The Hokies are 2-2 this season, and he started the first three games. He had six tackles in those games.

“Out there in practice, he had a play and Bud Foster was right beside him, and he made a statement,” Beamer continued. “He’s just not running like he used to, and it’s just true. He wants to, he’s trying to, but he just — it’s not the same as last year.”

He joins the Ravens in order to help lessen the injury to Timmy Jernigan, who is hampered by a knee injury. The 2014 draft pick is not close to returning, which caused the team to add Guy.

The 24-year-old spent last season with the Chargers, where he played in a career-high 12 games. He had 20 tackles and 5 pass deflections.

In 2012, Guy played in 9 games for the Indianapolis Colts, where he had 18 tackles. He also had a sack for an 8-yard loss.

The Ravens were not done in making roster moves today. Wide receiver/kick returner Deonté Thompson was released by the team.

He has been released by the team twice in the past four days.
