Rousey appears at the Royal Rumble

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

Following the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble match that Asuka won by throwing Nikki Bella over the top rope, former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey appeared at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The WWE continued to downplay it, yet there was a photo that was leaked of her arriving at the Philadelphia Airport on Sunday.

Rousey, who we reported had signed with the company after leaving the UFC following two straight losses, walked to the ring to confront Asuka. Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was also in the ring at this time.

Rousey was on WWE TV programming recently. However, this time, she came out wearing a jacket and shirt, as a tribute to the late great WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Once she got into the ring, she did not initially say anything, except for pointing at the WrestleMania sign in the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center.

Rousey then offered to shake hands with Asuka, who is undefeated since joining the WWE. Her hand was then slapped away. The two then exchanged words with each other, before the former MMA fighter pointed to the WrestleMania sign once again.

After doing that, she then waved bye to the three WWE Superstars, before leaving the ring. She then shook hands with RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, before leaving.

The 30-year-old was 12-2 in her MMA career. She first lost to Holly Holm on November 14th, 2015 in Australia with a second-round knockout — then she went into a depression, where she said she thought about suicide.

One year later, she was defeated by Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 when she was knocked out 48 seconds into the first-round. She joins Sonya Deville (Daria Berenato) as former MMA competitors.

Deville went 2-1 in her MMA career. She lost to Jasmine Pouncy in her final MMA bout by unanimous decision at the University of MMA: Fight Night 9 on March 8th, 2015.

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

The Final Four of the Royal Rumble at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania came down to Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Bálor, Roman Reigns and John Cena. Cena and Reigns previously won this battle royal.

Cena eliminated Bálor, as he threw him over the ropes. Reigns and Cena then double-teamed Nakamura, before Cena attacked Reigns.

Reigns then hit Cena with the superman punch. He goes for the spear on Cena, then gets the Attitude Adjustment from the C-Nation leader.

Nakamura then eliminated Cena. He was eliminated with a dropkick, as Cena was in between the ropes.

That made it Nakamura and Reigns as the final two in the ring. Nakamura then won the Royal Rumble after throwing Reigns over the top rope.

Nakamura now has a big decision to make as he has to pick his WrestleMania opponent on either Raw or Smackdown Live. This is the first-time that Nakamura won the Royal Rumble since joining the Smackdown Live roster last year after WrestleMania.

Nakamura will now have to choose between facing the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar — who has a title match later this evening against Kane and Braun Strowman — or facing WWE Champion AJ Styles on the Smackdown Live brand.

Lesnar has not been beaten since defeating Goldberg for the belt at WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd, 2017. Styles won the belt over Jinder Mahal in Manchester, England on November 7th, 2017.

The 37-year-old Nakamura was a two-time NXT Champion. He also won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship three-times. Nakamura was also the IWGP Intercontinental Champion five-times.

This is the first WWE pay-per-view in Philadelphia since WWE Battleground on July 23rd, 2017.

There will be a 30-man Royal Rumble match. The traditional match will give the winner a world championship match at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

There is speculation online that Finn Balor would win this match then set up a match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. It is just speculation, as they could change the winner even at the last second.

Lesnar will face Kane and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match for Lesnar’s WWE University Championship.

There will also be the inaugural 30-women Royal Rumble match. The winner of this match will receive a women’s championship match at WrestleMania 34.

It was the 2015 Royal Rumble match, where Styles made his WWE debut in Philadelphia.

Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan are expected to defend their WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against The Bar (Cesaro and Sheamus). The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) will put their WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship on the line against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin.

Right now, the semifinals are Bobby Roode vs. Mojo Rawley and Jinder Mahal vs. Xavier Woods. The two winners of the semifinal matches will face off at the Royal Rumble.

In the last Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) defeated The New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn and Road Dogg Jesse James) in tag team action. In another tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship, The Usos retained the belts over Damien Mizdow and The Miz.

Raw Philadelphia results 3/27/17

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

On Monday Night Raw from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa., the show’s action started with Bayley and Sasha Banks facing against Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax. Bayley used a Bayley-to-Belly for the win over Charlotte, then Jax attacked the three others.

Then, Austin Aries defeated Noam Dar in Cruiserweight action. Aries got the submission with with Cruiserweight champion Neville looking on, as Aries got the Last Chancery tap out.

In an Over The Top Rope Challenge, The Big Show easily dispatched everyone that he faced — Jinder Mahal, Bo Dallas, both The Shining Stars (at once). Then, Goldust, R-Truth and Curtis Axel came out and they all worked together to eliminate The Big Show.

The Big Show re-entered the ring and laid out everyone, except for R-Truth and Goldust, who escaped from the ring. As The Big Show was celebrating in the ring, Braun Strowman’s music hit and he came out to the ramp.

The near 400-pounder said that “everyone wants to see him kick The Big Show’s a** but they’re going to have to wait until WrestleMania.”

In more cruiserweight action, Neville defeated Gentleman Jack Gallagher. In the non-title match, he made Neville tap out with the Rings of Saturn.

Roman Reigns and The Undertaker had a confrontation in the ring.

The Club (Gallows and Anderson) were supposed to face Enzo Amore and Big Cass. However, the match never started as Cesaro and Sheamus attacked The Cluyb with a ladder as they were heading down the ramp.

The three teams went at each other with the ladder. The Club was the last team standing.

In a No Disqualification match, Sami Zayn defeated his former friend Kevin Owens. Shortly after Samoa Joe came out, Chris Jericho evened the odds. When Owens went to hit Jericho, Zayn got the roll up win.

Zayn will now compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Sunday.

In their final face-off before WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg ended the show. Lesnar was in the ring with Paul Heyman — and he said, “Goldberg has his respect and his admiration, and he is truly the man. But Brock Lesnar is the beast.”

Goldberg came out and said he didn’t come to Philly to talk. He came there to fight. As Lesnar tried to rush him, Goldberg hit a spear and celebrated in the ring.

Fan ejected for giving Westbrook middle fingers

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

The Philadelphia 76ers began their season at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. They hosted the new-looked Oklahoma City Thunder.

During the game, a fan gave Russell Westbrook, the Thunder’s best player, two middle fingers. The fan was ejected.

The Sixers were leading 18-7 when the incident happened. A fan — who was wearing an Allen Iverson jersey — gave the fingers to Westbrook in the middle of the first quarter.

The fan reacted after Westbrook had an and-1 called on him. He made a layup when he was fouled at 4:52.

Westbrook then looked into the crowd, where the guy was. After a yell and a flex, the guy gave Westbrook the fingers.

The fan said “F— you!” as Westbrook looked at a referee. He then asked the referee, “Can he do that?”

During the free throws, the notorious Philadelphia crowd changed “KD left you!” They were referring to Kevin Durant, who signed with the Golden State Warriors on July 4th.

After the incident with the fan, the Thunder went on a 16-6 run to end the first quarter.
