According to the Winston-Salem Journal, there is a new turn in the drama at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday. The guy, who was slapped by Amber Lynn Burchette, has been arrested.

He was arrested for a misdemeanor assault charge on a female, according to the story. Bradley Chance Newman allegedly assaulted Burchette by “pushing her with his body and spitting on her face,” the arrest warrant says.

He is held at the Forsyth County Jail, the report says. Newman is on a 48-hour domestic violence hold.

Newman was previously in a romantic relationship with Burchette. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.

Burchette was arrested at the Winston Salem, North Carolina facility on Saturday. She was arrested after he filed a complaint against her.

Her attorney John Barrow says that her client was ‘acting in self-defense,’ according to the Journal Now post, when she hit Newman.

“If you look at the video, he assaulted her,” Barrow said. “I don’t think there is any question about that. We will get it all figured out in court.”

Burchette was released, according to the post, on Monday on an unsecured bond. She is also scheduled to appear in court on the same day as Newman, which is Aug. 16.

The two had a domestic incident at approx. 5:05 pm. Nearly an hour and a half later, Burchette was arrested at the track.

Newman has also filed a protection order against Burchette. That hearing will begin at 9 am on July 23.
