Former NFL player Justin Bannan allegedly shoots woman in Colorado

Former NFL lineman is accused of a horrific crime. Justin Bannan allegedly shot a woman on Wednesday at the Black Lab Sports in Boulder, Colorado.

According to Denver 7, he reportedly claimed that the Russian Mafia was after him. The authorities believe that the two knew each other.

Bannan was married. However, the victim does not appear to be his wife.

The incident began at approx. 2:25 pm local time when the Boulder authorities were called to a shooting at the Black Lab Sports. The witnesses told the dispatchers, who called in, that a woman was shot by a man in his 40’s.

The suspect was wearing black clothing and carrying a duffle bag, the affidavit said. After leaving the scene, the affidavit, also said that he left the establishment and headed west.

The woman was shot in her shoulder. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who the woman ID’d as Bannan, did not go far, as he was found on the west side of the building. The suspect was talking to another man, before he was taken into custody.

The authorities found two guns on his possession in the duffle bag that Bannan allegedly took into the Black Lab Sports.

While being transported to the Boulder Police Department, Bannan allegedly claimed that he suffered from hydrocephalus. This is a condition that causes excess fluid to build up in his brain.

He also allegedly claimed that he had to get rid of his cell phone because he claimed that people were following him. The affidavit also said he had ‘a significant story to tell.’

Bannan was allegedly in possession of a white powdery substance that was rolled up in a $20 bill. The authorities found out that it was cocaine following a test.

Bannan was transported to Boulder Community Health Hospital following an interview with the authorities. During the interview, that’s when he claimed that the Russia Mafia was after him.

He is facing attempted first-degree murder, along with first-degree assault with extreme indifference, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury and first-degree burglary. Bannan is presently being held at the Boulder County Jail.

Denver 7 is reporting that Bannan is the co-founder of the Black Lab Sports.

In his NFL career, he played for the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, and the Detroit Lions.
