In addition to the PGA Tour’s Big Three (Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy), there are several great players with excellent chances to win the 2016 Masters. While it can be argued that a handful of players are ready to break through — and expand the Big Three — it is also possible that Jason Day is on the verge of separating himself from the entire field. Day has won six of his last 13 starts and the Aussie is favored to win his first Green jacket.
Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth will be looking to become the first back-to-back Masters Champion since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002 — who announced earlier this week he won’t play in this year’s event — while golfers like Day, McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Louis Oosthuizen look for their first Green Jacket. Former Masters Champions in the field, who have the best chances to add another title include Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott.
Even with a very strong field, the winner of this year’s Green Jacket could be is as unpredictable as the Augusta weather this time of year. With the forecast calling for plenty of wind and possibly a couple days of rain, we could be in for a surprise. That said, our pick is a relative dark horse that has been playing great golf recently and is still in search of his first major … Brandt Snedeker.
