The Nebraska Cornhuskers have re-signed head football coach Scott Frost to a new two-year extension. This extension goes onto the end of his present seven-year deal that he signed in 2017.

Frost — an alumni of the school — will now have his deal run through at least Dec. 31, 2026. He is 8-14 as the Cornhuskers head coach since he arrived back at the school.

“Two years ago, we had the tremendous opportunity to bring Scott Frost home to Nebraska to lead our football program into the future,” Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos said. “We are even more committed to that decision today. Coach Frost has shown tremendous leadership in beginning to rebuild our football program. We appreciate that a change of this nature will not happen overnight. We are committed to Scott and the direction he is taking this program.

“Scott is the right coach at the right time for this program.  We are excited for the heights to which he will take Nebraska football and the tremendous impact he will have in the development of our student athletes.”

The Cornhuskers are 4-6 on the season. Nebraska was defeated 37-21 by No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

With the losing record, they will have to win their final two games to become Bowl eligible. This is going to be a tough test, as they face the Maryland Terrapins on November 23rd.

The Terrapins will being a 3-7 record into the game at Maryland Stadium in College Park, Maryland.

Then, on Black Friday, the Cornhuskers will close out the season against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa presently has a 7-3 record, as of this post.

Despite the losing record and potentially back-to-back losing seasons, the Cornhuskers Athletic Department is confident that Frost is the man to turn this program around.

Riley receives lump sum settlement from Nebraska

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

Mike Riley is a consultant with the Oregon State Beavers football team. But before he accepted that job, he received a $6.2 million settlement from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He received this money in January, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. That was approximately two months after he was fired by the school in November.

Riley’s previous contract with the Cornhuskers ran through Feb. 2021. He had nearly $6.6 million left on his contract at the time of his termination.

Riley is receiving a salary of $50,004 as an offensive analyst with the Beavers. His contract with Oregon State impacted his $6.6 million that was owed to him.

The Cornhuskers paid off Riley so that they could lessen the payments of others on the payroll, who are no longer employed by the school. Former head coach Bo Pelini — the current Youngstown State head coach — is also on the books through February 2019.

In addition, former Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst also received a lump sum of $762,439. He was hired by the Texas Longhorns to run their internal affairs office in June.

He will be leaving the Beavers soon to become the head coach of the new San Antonio Commanders franchise in the Alliance of American Football. This new league is slated to begin playing in February 2019, one week after Super Bowl LIII.

This league will have head coaches, who were previously head coaches in college football or the NFL. The only exception is the Birmingham Iron, who is head coached by Tim Lewis, who has no prior head coaching experience. Lewis last coached as the San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach in 2015.

The Atlanta Legends will be coached by Brad Childress, while Mike Singletary will coach the Memphis Express. And Steve Spurrier will coach the Orlando Apollos.

Rick Neuheisel will coach the Arizona Hotshots, while Dennis Erickson will coach the Salt Lake Stallions. Mike Martz has been hired as the San Diego Fleet head coach.

Nebraska blocks RB Bell from transferring to Oregon State

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers running back Greg Bell has been blocked from transferring to the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers are the only school is barred from transferring to.

According to Nebraska, he cannot transfer to any Big Ten School. That is typical, as is the team’s decision to block him from any school on their future non-conference schedule over the next three seasons.

In 2018, those non-conference games are Akron, Colorado, Troy, and Bethune-Cookman. Next season, their non-conference schedule includes South Alabama, Colorado, and Northern Illinois.

The 2020 non-conference schedule includes Central Michigan, South Dakota State, and Cincinnati.

Nowhere on that list is Oregon State. According to FBSchedules.com, the Cornhuskers do not play the Beavers through the 2025 season.

Yet, here is the interesting tie-in with Oregon State. Since Scott Frost took over as the Cornhuskers head coach, three of the 15 players have announced they would transfer to become Beavers.

Quarterback Tristan Gebbia, wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey, and linebacker Avery Roberts are those players.

Trent Bray is also a former Cornhuskers assistant, who was hired by Jonathan Smith as the team’s linebackers coach. In addition, Mike Riley, the former Cornhuskers head coach, who was fired last November as the team’s head coach, is an assistant coach under Smith.

Bell made his intentions known that he would transfer from Nebraska on Saturday. He also did not travel to Madison, Wisconsin with the team to face the Wisconsin Badgers.

He began the season as the starting running back before losing the role.

Nebraska’s Bell decides to transfer

Bell signed with Nebraska after being the No. 2-ranked JUCO recruit in the country. He played the first four games with the team.

According to a new NCAA rule, established in June 2018, players can play the first four games of the season. Then, after that point, they are allowed to make a decision to stay or more on to another institution.

Bell made his announcement on Friday and did not travel with the winless Cornhuskers. Nebraska faces the No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, Wisconsin.

The junior college transfer began the season as the team’s starting running back. He then lost the role to one of his former teammates.

Bell was granted his release by Nebraska after saying he wanted to transfer.

“[I] earned the starting job and feel I have continued to work the same way but feel I am not being used to my fullest potential,” Bell said to ESPN.

Bell is the second Nebraska player, who announced their attention to transfer this week. Sophomore wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey, who was ranked as the 78th-best prospect in the Class of 2017, made the similar decision.

17-year-old girl arrested in Frost’s home break-in

Law enforcement officials have found a break in the break-in at Nebraska Cornhuskers’ Head football coach Scott Frost’s Lincoln, Nebraska home. They arrested a 17-year-old girl in the case.

About $165,000 worth of items were stolen from his residence. Included were 14 Championship rings during his time at Nebraska, Oregon, and UCF.

The theft or thieves also stole Air Jordan shoes, helmets, artwork, and a Nintendo Wii, according to media reports. The Championship rings were later accounted for, but the rest of the items were still missing.

The authorities arrested the girl after she was allegedly wearing an Oregon Ducks shoe. This was a custom shoe that was allegedly stolen from his house.

The juvenile is facing one count of suspicion of burglary. She may not be the only arrest in the case, according to the Omaha World-Herald, as the case is still ongoing.

“Police said some of the shoes were listed for sale online, and tips poured into Facebook and Crimestoppers,” according to the Lincoln Journal-Star. “Investigators also canvassed the neighborhood and followed up with a renovating crew they had been working at the home.”

Frost returned to his alma mater this offseason after guiding the UCF Knights to an undefeated season. He replaces Mike Riley, who was fired at the end of the season.

Scott Frost goes home

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a Head Coach once again. This one is a familiar face, as Scott Frost goes home.

Frost has received a seven-year, $35 million deal to become the Cornhuskers Head Coach. He replaces Mike Riley, who was fired last Saturday by the school.

He had to wait until the end of the American Athletic Conference Championship game to accept the offer. The game is presently in the second overtime when the news broke.

Frost was a candidate for numerous jobs this offseason. Yet, the pull of going home outweighed leaving for another school.

He was a candidate for the Florida Gators head coaching job before athletic director Scott Stricklin decided to bring home Dan Mullen last Sunday. Once he spurred the overtures of the Gators, everything lined up for him to go back to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Frost, who was born in Wood River, Nebraska, played for the Cornhuskers from 1995 through 1997. He was also a member of the school’s last National Championship team, which they shared with the Michigan Wolverines, in 1997.

Riley in his three seasons went 19-19 at the school. This past season, the team went 4-8 and missed its first Bowl game since the 2007 season.

Riley had only one winning season with the Cornhuskers, which was a 9-4 record in 2016.

Frost went 18-7 with the Knights. Central Florida will have an interim head coach for its upcoming Bowl vbe4game.

The Knights, under Frost, went 12-0 this season. In his first season in Orlando, Florida, he went 6-7 and guided the team to an appearance in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.

The Knights lost his only Bowl game with the team, as they were defeated 31-13 to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

Nebraska fires Mike Riley

By Anthony Caruso III| Publisher

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have fired its head coach Mike Riley. The Cornhuskers finished this season with a 4-8 record.

The school fired Riley, who has been on the hot seat since September, in their attempt to bring back home Central Florida Head Coach Scott Frost. The former Nebraska wide receiver is meeting with the Florida Gators on Saturday.

Frost is the Gators top target after the UCLA Bruins hired Chip Kelly. Kelly was out of the running for the Gators job on Friday.

Frost, who is in his second-year guiding the Knights, will put their perfect season on the line, as the Knights faces the Memphis Tigers in the American Athletic Conference Championship game next weekend.

Riley, as terms of his contract, will be paid $170,000 per month for at least the next three-years. He’ll receive $6.6 million in total.

“Riley has brought professionalism and energy to the Nebraska football program, but unfortunately, those attributes have not translated to on-field success,” Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos said.

In an interesting tidbit, the Cornhuskers are still paying former head coach Bo Pelini, who was fired to hire Riley, $1.5 million per season. The school will now owe $8.5 million to Riley and former athletic director Shawn Eichorst.

The move comes the morning after the Cornhuskers lost 56-14 to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday. Nebraska did not qualify for a Bowl game for the first-time since the 2007 season.

It’s the third such time they missed out on a Bowl game since the 1968 season.

Riley was just 19-19 in his three seasons in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Cornhuskers, a tradition-rich football program, went just 12-14 under Riley in the Big Ten Conference.

This season (4-8) was their worst season since 1961. The 2017 season was the first-time since the 1960 season that they lost five games at home.

Cornhuskers announce Beckner, Evelyn leave program

The Nebraska Cornhuskers has announced that assistant coach Phil Beckner has resigned from men’s basketball coach Tim Miles’ staff. According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Beckner left the team two days ago; however, the school just announced the move today.

He’s taking a new role with the Boise State Broncos, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

“In talking with Phil, he felt that when this opportunity presented itself, he felt it was a great time and a great fit for him to make that move,” Miles said in a prepared statement. “I support him because I want our guys to be happy, I want them to be fulfilled. I think he felt moving West and being with coaches he knows well would be a good move for him. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.”

Becker was only with Miles for just one season.

Also, Miles confirmed that freshman guard Bakari Evelyn will be transferring from the program. He’ll complete the spring semester, then look for a new school.

Evelyn — whose a 6-foot-2 guard from Detroit, Michigan — played in 18 games with the Cornhuskers. He had 24 total points, nine rebounds, and four assists in 88 minutes.

He had a season-high seven points against Mississippi Valley State Devils.

“I support Bakari and his decision to transfer,” Miles added. “I appreciate his hard work for the Huskers throughout the season, and he will be granted a full release. We wish Bakari the best in his future endeavors.”

Keenan Reynolds has broken the FBS career rushing touchdown record

Navy Midshipmen quarterback Keenan Reynolds has broken the FBS career rushing touchdown record. He broke the record against the SMU Mustangs this afternoon.

He broke the record on a 4-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter. It took him just nine minutes to break the record.

His touchdown surpassed the mark of former Wisconsin Badgers running back Montee Ball. He broke the record during the 2012 season following his 77th touchdown.

Before Bell broke the record, it previously belonged to Miami (Ohio) Red Hawks back Travis Prentice, who had 73. He ended his career during the 1999 season.

The four-yard run by Reynolds was his 78th touchdown of his career. He has 13 so far this season and may add a lot more before the season’s out.

The option quarterback has been dominating opponents on the ground as he has 791 rushing yards. He has just 516 passing yards on the year.

The senior had been the Navy quarterback since his freshman year in 2012. As a freshman, he had 10 touchdowns.

During his sophomore year, he added a career-best 31 touchdowns. Then, he had 23 TD’s last season.

In the modern era, Reynolds is the first quarterback to hold the record. Former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Eric Crouch had the record by the most touchdowns by a quarterback in 59.

The Midshipmen signal-caller is just one of six players to ever rush for 70 touchdowns in a collegiate career.

There’s a chance that he could break the all-time Division 1 all-time rushing record. Adrian Peterson, who went to Georgia Southern Eagles, finished his career with 84 touchdowns.

Mount Union Purple RaidersNate Kmic has the all-time college football record with 125 career touchdowns.

Reynolds also has to watch as Louisiana Tech BulldogsKenneth Dixon is approaching on his record. He currently has 70 and ran for six touchdowns last week.

Former NFL WR Irving Fryar facing serious jail time

Former NFL wide receiver Irving Fryar has been found guilty with his role in a mortgage scam that also involved his mother. With the news today that he’s been found guilty, he’s now facing up to 10 years in prison.

This is a drastic turn for the one-time high school football coach and good NFL wide out, who applied for several mortgage loans in a short amount of time. It became suspicious when it was found that they used the same property as collateral for each loan in question.

The 52-year-old’s defense team argued that he was a victim in the case, who they argued that this was all done by a “con artist.” Besides Fryar and his mother, William Barksdale was also arrested – and pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge last year.

He was also the key witness in this case, as he saved his self. Barksdale was only given a 20-month prison sentence.

The only member, who hasn’t been sentenced yet is Fryar’s mother Allene McGhee. She’s been convicted; however, she did not testify in the trail, nor did her son.

Both Fryar and McGhee rejected plea deals, which could have given them potentially lesser sentences. But they both decided to risk everything, as Fryar would have been given a five-year sentence, while his mother would have gotten just three.

Fryar was freed today on a $20,000 bail, while his mother was released on her own recognizance.
The Authorities believe that Fryar and McGhee provided the false information on her loan applications and claimed that she earned thousands of dollars each month. McGhee’s job was listed as an Event Coordinator for Fryar’s church that he founded.

They reportedly made a few payments on the four loans, before the banks eventually wrote the loans off as losses.

In 2013, he was a head football coach at Robbinsville High School, before being fired after being arrested with this case. Prior to that, he was the first overall pick out of Nebraska by the New England Patriots in 1984 NFL Draft, then also played for the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Redskins.

As a star high school athlete, he attended Rancocas Valley High School in Mt. Holly.
